Displays !!
Let's see what you have got !!
This one is my latest I have put 4 of the rare Aurora AFX (Watson McLaren, Bata Din Williams, Dark Red Ferrari T4 and the Translucent Yellow Renault) cars in it and it is now mounted on my wall. All that I did was glue (PVA wood Glue as there are no fumes and it sets real quick)a some modeling grass and a Tomy "S" bend cut down to fit in a chocolate box that I got for Christmas. It is covered over with a clear plastic so that if a car should fall off the track at any time it won't fall far.
Next up is the Sears 4 Lane set cars and sticker sheet Afx track cut down the centre and the box is ligned with felt to represent the AFX colours.
Same as above but with the Simoniz Datsuns. These are home made boxes that are all covered with a thin clear plastic to stop dust and damage.
My next project is a box to display the 8 Tomy/Aurora AFX "S" Series that were Japan only cars now that I have them all I will be putting that photo up when it is finished.

"S" Series Display
Posted by auroba1 on Tue, 2013-01-22 11:25All 8 cars and 4 of the 6 sticker sets Just the Dome and BMW stickers to get these cars are bottom right and bottom 2nd from left respectively. 2 cars came without sticker sets as they had all the stickers already fitted those being the Toyota and the Dome top 2nd from left and top right respectively. The cars that came with sticker sets only had one side and the top fitted with the stickers and even then not all of them.
My Storage/Display...
Posted by Big-T on Tue, 2013-01-22 19:26Is a little more utilitarian. It enables me to organize, easily access, and inventory the cars as well as my racing tools and equipment. It puts it all in one place and I am able to secure it from "The Wrecking Ball's" little hands. :-)
The drawers are lined with felt and I throw in a moisture absorbing packet and I am good to go!! I can also add drawers as needed for expansion!
Guys as side note... I also collect 1/18th scale diecast my display for them is a 4' x 7' glass display cabinet that my Dad built for me. He did an execellent job!
The cabinet can hold about 30 cars nicely. I have around 150 so I rotate them out every now and then.

Posted by Mikey Guindon on Tue, 2013-01-22 20:15Good ideas from BIG-T and auroba1, I have not got a good way to display my cars yet, after I finish the 3rd level on my track I will get to work on the display part for my cars.

Displays
Posted by Patrick on Wed, 2013-01-23 22:06Here's mine. As you may be aware, my main interest is museum grade 1/43 miniatures. The majority of these are hand made by myself. The display units are ones that Jose` Rodriguez and I designed many years ago. Apologize for the distortion and focus - it is nearly impossible to get the shot due to the configuration of my office/den.

Can't seem to upload the photo! Let's try this again.
Display cases
Posted by Rick Burneson on Tue, 2013-01-22 22:25Not very good photos, but hopefully you get the idea. The top 2 cases are mostly Porsche 956 and 962's (with some Peugeot and Audi's in the 2nd case) whereas the bottom photo is of 108 NASCARs (in numerical order). I have a similar case for Formula 1 but rather than numerical those are oldest to newest.
Of the cases like the Porsche examples, I have 13 for 1/64th cars and 3 for 1/72nd (T-Jets and Bauers mostly). In the black cases I group the cars by type, i.e. Can-Am, Trans-Am, Indy Cars (never mixed with F-1!), Japanese racing cars (Nissan-Datsun and Mazda), One for Ferrari and non-956-962 Porsches, One called "Not exactly NASCAR" with the Australian V8 cars, Electric Hot Wheels commemorativess, etc.
So quite the semi-organized mess. Will post more photos later.

Just in case.
Posted by JohnsIsland on Wed, 2013-01-23 00:00This is one I had up at work, until a new General Mgr. told me to take it home. I started to empty it out after work one day, but just decided to carry the whole thing home and empty it there. I misplaced the key to the back doors and haven't looked at it until tonight. Must have been an inch of dust on it. Fortunately, I'd covered it with a garbage bag. The case is an old Timex watch display.
Since the anti-slot car GM was gone now, I put these up at work for my boss' little boy, Chase. He loves trucks and trains. The little guy loved to look at them and ask a million questions about each one. I would swap-out the trucks for different ones from time to time, so he'd have different ones to see. This pic was taken my last day at work in 2011, just before I emptied it out to take down.
Even though everyone has already seen this and it's not really a display like you're lookin' for, Rob, I'm puttin' it up here anyway, dad-burn-it, because I didn't get to have a Christmas display this past year(everything that could go wrong, went wrong) and I'm still very sad about that situation. Boy, that was a long sentence. This is from December 2011.

Posted by Plymouth71 on Wed, 2013-01-23 12:05This is how I last counted them. On my Mom's Kitchen table when she was away on a trip.
Unfortunately I havn't found the time to make any kind of meaningful display...

I have some of my collection
Posted by Brooklands on Wed, 2013-01-23 14:22I have some of my collection on display in the lobby at America On Wheels museum in Allentown PA. There are about 100 items in the display case currently. This shows a bit of the display looking down from above the glass case
.
In my slot car room I have one large wooden cabinet plus a number of smaller displays including some of the Plano Hot Wheels cases hanging on the walls. Below is the wooden cabinet, and then some of my controller display plus the plastic cases.

Posted by auroba1 on Wed, 2013-01-23 14:27Wow some nice stuff guys and some of it is displayed very well. All I can say is these cars are mostly collectors items now days and they need to be displayed. I have a few more displays to show you although I would like all my cars to be displayed on professionally made shelving the cars are higher on my list of "wants" so I make my own.
Display cases
Posted by SlotHeadFred on Thu, 2013-01-24 21:45Great stuff! Wish I had the time to do more. Here's my 2 cases that hold 100 cars each. Mostly AFX and T-jets. I could use another 3 cases but will probably make my own when time allows. These are available from Dave at UltimateDisplaycase.com in a variety of sizes. Nice quality and the plexiglass front keeps the dust out.
Guess I will add pics when I figure out how. Help me Ray!
