TycoPro 917 Porsche.
Hey There,
I think one of the most overlooked slot car types is the TycoPro. In my opinion the detail is as good as any other. The trick is to find one in good condition for a reasonable price. Although they are not as main stream as the T-Jet and AFX, they have a loyal following. I just recieved the one shown, today. This is a button type pick-up, perhaps the least desireable. The lights work and the only thing it needs is a good cleaning and some new rubber. I think it was a good deal for 15 bucks (shipping included). Besides that, I didn't own one. This is one more step in my quest to own at least one of every chassis type from every manufacturer. See, most of the guys I know that race, collect as well. Just in a different way.

Have fun! Serge

Drop Dead Gorgeous
Submitted by mgbbrown on Wed, 02/10/2010 - 17:40.Serge, You are right-TycoPro cars are overlooked-except for the 427 Cobra for which I still seek an Enots filler cap. As an aside I found a rollbar for it so half of the battle is won. This is a beautiful example. I purchased my black pan Cobra when they first hit the market. We were not disappointed in their speed, and usually gave them a four lap handicap in a ten lap race against our best T-jets. I think that the proportions of some of the Can-Am cars like the McLaren were a bit off in the beginning. They are of course quite larger than their T-Jet counterpart as well. I was not aware of the button style guide and am eager to see if aftermarket variants such as adding copper braid or replacing the wiper contacts with braid were available or popular modifications. I know that Auto World offered a replacement. NICE! God Bless! Tony

TycoPro
Submitted by Aussie Ho on Wed, 02/10/2010 - 02:05.Serge. I agree. I love the older Tyco's and I never understood why they played second fiddle to the AFX cars. Some AFX cars are ordinary in comparison I reckon.
Just watch the flimsy front wheels on those pan chassis' as they are very weak.

the tycopro 917 is hard to find with the rear intact, and all the carburetors intact on the engine assembly too.
